The modules
The JobAut coaching process is organised around four core dimensions: Vision, Identity, Communication and Impact. These dimensions guide participants through a progressive journey that starts from self-awareness and moves toward clearer direction, more conscious communication and concrete action.
The modules are not independent blocks, but connected steps within the same empowerment pathway. They build on the previous phases of the JobAut methodology: the Placement Feasibility Interview and the ICF-based functional profile. In this way, the personal discoveries made during the coaching phase remain linked to the participant’s documented strengths, support needs and possible job directions. The R2 explicitly frames this coaching phase as a neurodiversity-affirming, group-based journey designed to explore vision, identity, communication and impact, translating self-awareness into action and resilience.
2.1 Vision and identity
The Vision and Identity module addresses a central challenge for many young people outside traditional systems or in risk zones, including autistic people: the difficulty of developing a positive self-image and a secure sense of identity. The R2 explains that this may be influenced by many factors, including childhood experiences, insecurity, organisational change, sensory sensitivities, social misunderstandings and difficulties adapting to change.
For this reason, the module focuses on building a stronger personal foundation. Participants are supported in recognising their dreams, passions, values, strengths and qualities. The aim is not only to help them describe what they want, but also to help them understand what matters to them and what kind of identity can support them in finding, keeping and thriving in employment.
The group setting is important because it allows individual and collective reflection. Participants share tasks and experiences in an inclusive environment where different communication styles are respected. The module encourages self-expression and co-determination, allowing participants to help shape the learning environment according to their needs and preferences.
The FROG approach, on which the JobAut methodology builds, focuses on resources, qualities and strengths rather than limitations. Within Vision and Identity, this means helping participants recognise what they already have within themselves and how these personal resources can become part of their path toward work. The module also introduces elements inspired by cognitive principles, supporting participants in understanding how thoughts influence emotions and behaviour, and how greater awareness can help them navigate challenges with more resilience.
2.2 Communication and Impact
The Communication and Impact module moves from self-awareness toward direction, expression and future planning. The R2 highlights that many autistic people, especially during the transition to adulthood or employment, may experience uncertainty about what they want in life. This uncertainty can be connected to difficulties in identifying suitable career paths, sensory and social challenges, lack of accessible guidance, unclear expectations or workplaces that are not a good fit.
In this module, participants are supported in communicating more confidently and authentically. The aim is not to impose a single communication style, but to provide tools that respect different ways of communicating and help participants present themselves effectively in social and professional contexts, including job interviews.
Communication is also linked to impact. Participants explore how their words, actions and behaviour can influence others, and how they can navigate social expectations while remaining true to themselves. Structured exercises help them understand interaction, mutual understanding and the role of communication in relationships with employers, colleagues and support networks.
The module also supports action planning. Participants are guided to identify what a positive future may look like for them and which concrete steps can bring them closer to it. Dreams, values and goals are connected to practical choices, helping participants move from self-awareness to meaningful direction.
